The RockLab with Tarantella
Unbreakable passion at The RockLab: HANG OUT and Tarantella versus apathy
The 13 June gig at The RockLab promised thrills and, although the night threw up some unusual circumstances, it ended up as a masterclass in love for live music.
Tarantella: the «Metallica of Huesca» open fire
The evening kicked off with Tarantella, a cracking band determined to make their mark. With a set loaded with killer originals and a truly brutal live show, they showed on stage exactly why you need to keep an eye on them. On top of that, they treated the crowd to an absolutely memorable, razor-sharp and lovingly crafted version of Metallica's classic For Whom the Bell Tolls that left everyone's jaws on the floor. A band that hits seriously hard.
HANG OUT: leaving it all out there, even with the scoreboard against us
Then it was HANG OUT's turn, still with Rodri on lead guitar, who once again put on a real show with his super solos and dazzling fretwork, backed by Pablo's voice, Borja's rhythm guitar, Jhony's bass and Jorge's drums.
The only thorn in the night's side was out of anyone's hands: clashing with the Coslada town festival, the turnout was thin and the place was pretty empty. Even so, neither Tarantella nor HANG OUT let their heads drop for a single second. Far from being dragged down by the low numbers, both bands came out to devour the stage and gave 200%. Because HANG OUT's philosophy is unshakeable: even if only one person turns up to see us, we'll sweat blood and give it our all at every gig.
The set was a juggernaut from start to finish, ripping through the setlist with overflowing energy: from the opening salvo of Blitzkrieg Bop, Pongamos que hablo de Madrid and Smells Like Teen Spirit, through You Give Love a Bad Name, Dolores se llamaba Lola, Vicio, Rockin’ in the Free World, Agotados de esperar el fin, Rock You Like a Hurricane and the atmosphere of Frío.
And for the history books, Sweet Child O’ Mine stood out as the best performance of the whole night, crowned with surprises and exclusive touches on stage that stay between those who were there… because some secrets of live music are never to be revealed. The home stretch with Te visitará la muerte, T.N.T., En blanco y negro and Ama, ama, ama y ensancha el alma closed a night that made it crystal clear the band's passion is bigger than any headcount.
