A glorious afternoon at Sanse Scrum: the rock-and-roll heartbeat of HANG OUT

Thursday afternoon, 28 August 2025, will stay branded on the memory of everyone who packed out the Sanse Scrum Rugby Club marquee. What promised to be a cracking musical date turned into a genuine communion of rock, nostalgia and pure home-grown talent, courtesy of HANG OUT and their star-studded guests.

An acoustic opener with a proper pedigree

Things started heating up with a set that was intimate but packed a punch. Kira and Rick joined forces on stage — Rick being, as local music lore will tell you, the very first bassist of what would later become HANG OUT — perfectly backed on cajón by Jorge, the main band's regular drummer.

Armed with their guitars and the kind of stagecraft you only get from years on the boards, they had the crowd eating out of their hands with an acoustic set crammed with the finest pop-rock tunes.

Kira's vocal performance deserves a special mention: truly incredible. Her voice has that rare magnetism that fills every corner of the marquee, shaping each line with overflowing sensitivity yet with enough power to send a shiver down every spine in the place, chord after chord.

The high point: an improvised, historic «Sweet Child O’ Mine»

With the afternoon already running like clockwork, along came the defining moment of the evening — a gift not even the musicians themselves had planned. As a prelude to HANG OUT taking the stage, and without a single rehearsal, the magic broke loose.

Pablo, HANG OUT's charismatic frontman, and Kira joined voices in a spontaneous collaboration that has already passed into rugby club legend: an unforgettable take on Guns N’ Roses' classic «Sweet Child O’ Mine». The song opened with acoustic delicacy and built little by little until it exploded into a thrilling vocal duel. Watching and hearing Pablo and Kira blend their voices note by note, pouring their hearts into every line, sent the crowd absolutely wild.

HANG OUT: pure rock, straight up, no frills

After the euphoria of that duet, it was time for HANG OUT's full set. Despite still being without a lead guitarist, the band showed real stagecraft, know-how and enviable chemistry, delivering the set with a rock-solid conviction that had even the hardest-core purists grinning.

No nonsense, no needless frills: HANG OUT on stage was rock in its purest, hardest form — simple, cheeky and straight to the jaw. They reeled off a string of can't-miss classics that turned the Sanse Scrum marquee into a proper pressure cooker. With every chorus the crowd sang along as one, jumping about and celebrating a perfect bond between band and fans.

It was, without a doubt, one of those magical afternoons when good old-fashioned rock finds the perfect home to beat louder than ever.
